Dead Photos…Raised up.

Caught in the loop. 1:00 AM. Again.

Too much energy, too many thoughts. Fighting to sleep is a waste, so I’ve given in. I might as well lean into the ungodly time; there is undeniable magic in this hour.

ABOVE: The latest archive entry “The Fifth Line(link). A lone redwood anchoring the center of the former Kaiser Center (now PG&E HQ) at Lake Merritt in Oakland.

I've chased the essence of this building for years. I’d take the shots, plop ‘em on the big monitor, and feel... nothing. Dead photos. Useless.

Finally, this version clicked.

I anchored that lone redwood (sorry bud, you look lonely) right on the central mullion. It highlights the stark diagonal patterns of the LED strips inside the offices. The building swallows the frame, flattening into a texture rather than a structure. Finally, the chase is over.
